I'm worried

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 12:08 PM
'The Waters of Mars' is supposed to be on tonight, right? But my TV schedule says 'The Voyage of the Damned' is going to be on instead.
I hope it's a mistake and 'Waters of Mars' will be the one aired.

Christmas Dinner

  • Nov. 13th, 2009 at 11:56 PM
You know it's the holiday season when every other post here has something to do with Turkey Day or Christmas. Haha. Anyway, I'm hosting my first Christmas this year, and I'm really excited about it. My mother in law is so...well, she seems to think that if she eats anyone else's cooking but hers, she's going to spontaneously combust or something. I don't kno what her issue is, but I digress. I've got a tentative menu worked out in my head, and I'd like y'all's input.

Mmm, Christmas dinner, anyone? )</lj-cut

inspired by this post here

what stores do you LIKE even if you "shouldn't"/everyone "hates" them? why?
It's my friend's birthday party tomorrow (21st) and I said I'd make a cake. It's also bill paying time so I can't fork out the money to buy everything from scratch. Plus I bought him 2 liters of rum.
So, members of cooking, I need the best from the box recipes you have. Something that nobody will ever think I threw together tomorrow morning.

Thank you!

1. What's something you carry (on your person, in your purse/bag/wallet/etc.) that most people don't? Why do you carry it/them?
Alcohol pads and a sharpie because I like to sterilize things and enjoy the smell.

2. What beverage (water, coffee, juice, tea, liquor, soda pop, etc.) do you consume the most on a daily basis? How much do you drink?
Ice water, about 6-8 cups.

That made me a little uncomfortable, considering Sarah's actually pregnant. I said I wasn't going to watch this season, but now I'm not sure.

Pet peeves?

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 10:41 AM
What are some things that your parents, siblings or room mates do that just gets on your last nerve?

For me, it's when my dad doesn't fill the ice cube trays. Yes, it's minor, but it's irritating when you want a cold drink and there's no ice.

What are some general things about your house or apartment that annoy you?

The tap water tastes like ass. We bought a purifier pitcher for that little problem, but Mom or I always end up refilling it because Dad seems allergic to taking responsibility. Also, having to use a pay card for the washer/dryer, and not being able to do laundry BECAUSE THE FUCKING COMMUNITY CENTER IS LOCKED AND I CAN'T GET TO THE CARD MACHINE TO PUT MONEY ON THE FUCKING THING.

What are the good things about your apartment or house?

Just about everything else. ^_^

What are some good things about your annoying house mates/parents/siblings?

My dad does take some responsibility now and then; he washed the dishes, cleaned out the microwave and is putting my mom's CDs away while she's in the hospital. (nothing major, she just had some trouble breathing and is there to be checked out. She's coming home tomorrow)

Victoria Beckham takes son Brooklyn on a trip to poverty-stricken U.S. town... and gives football lessons to poor children

Victoria Beckham spoke out about childhood poverty today after taking her eldest son to visit some of the poorest children in America. The former Spice Girl and 10-year-old Brooklyn engaged in a number of activities run by the Save the Children charity during a two-day trip to Clay County, in the state of Kentucky. Beckham said the visit had shown her the need for all children to have an equal start in life and helped her son learn about the responsibilities of his generation. The mother-of-three and Brooklyn took part in a number of programmes last week, including teaching football, reading to toddlers and providing literacy and nutrition tools to parents on home visits.

David Beckham takes style lead from Jedward with bizarre shaved quiff
David Beckham David Beckham
Has David Beckham started taking his style lead from Jedward? The footballer appeared to be channelling the X Factor twins when he stepped out for last night's LA Galaxy match in California last night. A bizarre combination of a mohawk and a quiff, the new hairstyle was attracting as much attention as his goal-scoring skills at the game against Houston Dynamo. And despite helping his team to a 2-0 win in the Major League Soccer match, it was the footballer's hair that was the talk off-pitch.

why is my cat not happy unless she is knocking stuff over or onto the floor? (i spend probably 15 minutes a day cleaning up after this slob of a jerkcat.)

i bought a house a couple of months ago, and my walls are naked. what kind of stuff should i put up? pix and links are appreciated! what kind of art do you like?

I'm beginning to think that this may be one of those Oscar derbies in which the front-runner is really behind us and everybody, at this place on the track and the calendar, is looking at the wrong horses. Remember those years when pre-autumn releases "Annie Hall," "Braveheart" and "Gladiator" came trotting back, triumphant, into the derby after late-year releases tripped up?

Yes, "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" is a front-runner, one of several, and will nab nominations for best picture, director, screenplay, actress and supporting actress. I think it's guaranteed of at least one win: Gabourey Sidibe for best actress. Probably Mo'Nique for supporting actress too, but there's room for an upstart victory here. However, I think "Precious" may be too small of an art-house flick to WIN best picture, and I don't think it's going to have the kind of widespread support across the academy's tech branches that's usually needed to win best picture.

Does anyone have that gif of the cat licking his paw or something, then he looks to the left and the words "the fuck was that?" appear? It's a grumpy old man cat, if that makes a difference.

Why are you awake right now?
I had intentions of sleeping in but I woke up naturally 3 hours early. :(
