Voxdate Babblebabblebabble

There's a concert going on tonight for Alexander Keith's 112'th birthday and I'm missing it because I'm sick. :( For those not in the know (ie, everywhere that's not Eastern Canada), Keith's is a beer made in Nova Scotia and is probably one of the best beers I've ever tried. It's pretty much all the locals drink out here (that and Guiness) and it's a pretty big deal out here. You know a city's good when their local hero's a brewer.
So anyway, there's a huge shindig going on today and I'm sitting here in my pjs instead, sipping Neocitrin.
Oh well! Thanksgiving's this weekend, so there's going to a big BBQ party to make up for what I'm missing tonight. Yay Thanksgiving!

The good news:
Sweeny Todd trailer Oh DAYUM I can't wait for this thing. It's looks devillishly bizarre.

Lost writers know the end Good! I'd hate to think I have to wait for thirteen episodes with no direction.

Halo movie dead Honestly, I never understood the point of making movies out of video games, since games are essentially long, interactive movies anyway. I can't think of a single good movie made out of a video game.

Pigeons and technology? I refuse to believe it!

Apple explores touch-sensitive screens/pads YES, yes and more yes. I can wait until the future when computers are just a giant DS.

My shenanigans )

AWESOME:
Mock up: The MacBook touch While not something actually coming out, it would be splendiforous if it was. I've been holding out on getting a tablet PC in hopes that a tablet Mac will eventually surface (yep, I'm that name-brand), fully content with having a Wacom tablet in the mean time. But man, if Apple comes out with a touch-screen computer soon, I'll be over that like dumb on a dog.

ADORABLE:
Tigers and Orangutangs BFFL I'm fairly certain this is old news, but OMGWTFBBQ

WEIRD:
Gallery of Robot Sex

Jack Thompson sends gay porn in with court filing WHAT. Oh my god, this guy's almost more entertaining that actualy video games.

No gays, but lots of trannies Iran may have 'no gays' but is only second to Thailand for number of sex changes.

Nintendo becomes 2nd most valuable stock in Japan Remember when the Wii was first announced and everyone said the little gimmicky controls would limit it's sales and potential? Remember that?

Batman stunt driver dies They should've blamed in on the Joker. That bastard!

Steve Jobs: An open letter to iPhone users "we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store."
After yesterday's reveal of the new iPods I posted about, there was something I didn't bother mentioning, since it wasn't important to me: The iPhone price cut. The iPhone now sells for $399 US, a $200 price drop after only a few months on the market, seemingly screwing over the early adopters.
This is tech business. Like the old saying goes, once you buy a computer, there's already a better once in the store room, and even if you buy that, there's a better one on a truck to the store, and even if you get that there's a better one on a boat from Japan, ect. Complain all you want about the iPhone prices, but that's business.
So most companies would shrug their shoulders and say just that. Early adopters paid that $200 extra fee to have it first. A good company would say 'sorry we screwd you, that was a bit means, but it's business and at leat you paid that $200 extra fee to have it first, don't you feel awesome?'
Apple says sorry and then gives a rebate. An almost unessescary apology gift, with an apology from the man himself. Now early adopters got to have it first, and can get cheaper iPods, or simply free acessories. Microsoft wouldn't have done it. In fact, I can't think of a single company, tech or otherwise, that might've done it. Apple's not just trying to be the best company in technology and design. They're trying to be the best company all around.
Steve Jobs is Jesus. And he can totally have my womb.

APPLE APPLE APPLE APPLE
Today little happened, so I'm not going to bother a Voxdate about it. But newswise, shit went down. Apple released a bunch of new shit for the hand-sized line, starting with revamps of all the iPods.
A new video Nano
This is my least favorite of the redesign. The colours are much less impressive (and same with the colours of the shuffle, which I'm not going to link), being all muted out. I love light, muted out colours, like pastels and powders and the like, but on an iPod is just seems to diminish what the whole thing is, and I thought bright was still in vogue anyway? Besides that, squishing down and widening out the Nano is just ugly. Supposedly this was because the previous Nanos were so thin and long they kept snapping. Also bringing video to the Nano? What's the serious point?
The revamped, renamed iPod Classic This one I like, expescially with the new metal casing. 160g is a lot of space, and really, really tempting. I don't have nearly that much music, with only 5gig in my library so far, and I'm not sore on needing space to hold videos and such, since I have about 100 DVDrs empty and waiting. And I rarely watch videos on the go, since I don't fly, bus, subway, ect. It doesn't realy make sense to be watching my iPod while walking downtown streets. A ton of space, and for a nice price, but it's nothing I need right now.
And the new iPod touch. Which I also don't need, but want with a passion. I got a sweetness phone to hold me off until iPhone came to Canukistan and now that there's an iPhone withouth the phone, I feel even better. Touchscreen makes me happy in my pants, and this mutherfucker has wifi too, and I just know widgets and apps are being designed 3rd party style for this business. I just hopre there's one, or an option already on the pod, to get rid of that Starbucks icon. I'm not one of those 'oh noes, Starbucks is the corporate devil out to much upon our wallets and souls', I just don't go to Starbucks. I'm not big on their coffee, and while I love coffee, I'm not a coffee shop person. I don't have a laptop and if I'm going to read a book, I'm going to stay home, not go to a coffee shop and sip on my latte while reading 'The economical philosophy of why modern America sucks Corporate dick except for Starbucks unless this is being read somewhere other than Starbucks, in which case fuck Starbucks.' But that's a different rant all together.
So yay iPod touch! I want to touch it all over.

And so, the Internets were aglow as at the Macworld 2007 (there's a Macintosh convention? WANT) Apple unveiled two glorious new things! iPhone and AppleTV. They are glorious! They are spectacular! They are everything we need in this wireless, connected and smoothly white modern age!
Except wait.
Look again at the phone. This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained. In other words - "iPhone? Great invention or The Greatest? It's slicker than Danny Zuko's hair! Everybody wants one! The buzz is everywhere! We're going to make millions!" "Yeah... we haven't been given the right go ahead to actually make it yet. We... might not... ever." "But... it's been leaked! Rumoured! Announced!" "Yeah..." "Oh fuckcockshit."

(Should it ever get made, I'm all over that like butter on toast. Until then? Guys, wait to count your chickens before the rooster fertilizes the eggs.)

Oh, and AppleTV? Bitchin' (OMG Venture Bros top row, sixth from left). Except that you need widescreen TV and, more importantly, movies on your iTunes. Now. I don't get movies on my iTunes. Or TV shows. Canada just can't seem to get those yet. Until we do, I can play my music! HURRAY. Or look at pictures. DOUBLE YEYS. Or watch poorly compressed pirated downloaded .avi's that I had to save as .mov's in Quicktime because iTunes won't read it otherwise.
Also, the TV's my roomies and is a bit old and has purply spots everywhere.
I want.
But I think I'll bitch out on the TV first.

The four o clock update! Right here from my computer chair!

Today:
Totally went by quickly, but I don't feel like I did anything at all. Watched the superman/batman Timm animated movie, an episode of Batman where Batgirl dies and Gordon goes crazy, and some Venture Bros. episodes. All while doing my work, of course, but after everything I did had to be deleted because I was on the wrong path, it feels like I just spent all of today to get back to square one.
It'll be more fun once I start working on scenes, I figure, since the show's hilarious. But right now I'm all :/
Leik woah.

New Nanos! In colours and cheaper prices! WHAT. But I still love my mini more. Sure the nanos come in pink now, have colour screens, last longer, are lighter and can hold photos, but do they have the charm? The wit? The uncanny love? Okay, so maybe I just sound bitter. I'm not, really. It's just a mp3 player, and just basically a smaller version of the one I have (and thus more chance to use it) I don't look at it enough to care about the colour, I wouldn't be able to make out the photos anyway and I charge my iPod every night, so lifespan's not a problem.
So bitter about a nano? No
Bitter about the new iMacs which have a built in camera, Intel core chip, are ffast, brighter, with more memory, built in theatre player + remote and is half the price that I paid for mine?
Maybe a little.
I'm totally buying a 24'' after college. DROOL.
Also, new iTunes with movie dling! Happy, happy, happy!

Oh shit, I have errands to run, but the college is closed now. This is a messge to myself to remember by tomrrow!

Naptime now.
